A Gentle Nudge to Unplug (and How to Make Screen-Free Time Easier)

We’re not here to tell you to throw your phone into the nearest body of water.

(Tempting some days, sure—but not the point.)

But with Screen-Free Week coming up May 3–9, we are here to offer a gentle invitation:

What might it look like to carve out even a little time…
to unplug from the noise and plug back into yourself?

No rules.
No pressure.
No all-or-nothing energy.

Just a few small moments that belong fully to you.

A Few Screen-Free Ideas (Pick One. Or Don’t.)

  • Read a book for 10 minutes (and accidentally stay for an hour)
  • Sit outside and actually notice things—birds, wind, your neighbor’s dog that never stops barking
  • Write a letter to someone (yes, with a stamp and everything)
  • Pull out a puzzle and leave it out all week
  • Try a low-effort craft (bookmark, doodle, collage—nothing fancy)
  • Flip through an old photo album
  • Make a cup of tea and just… sit with it
  • Reorganize a small space (drawer, shelf, nightstand)
  • Start a “brain dump” notebook
  • Listen to music without doing anything else at the same time

Not everything has to become a new routine.
Sometimes it’s just about remembering what it feels like to be present for a few minutes.

What’s in Our “Analog Bag”

If we were packing a little grab-and-go bag for screen-free moments, it might look something like this:

  • A book we’re currently reading (or one we’ve been meaning to start)
  • A small journal + pen
  • A cozy craft (think: bookmark kit, simple embroidery, watercolor set)
  • A snack or two (non-negotiable)
  • A candle or tiny mood-setting item
  • A playlist already downloaded (so no scrolling required)

It’s less about having the perfect setup…
and more about making it easier to choose something offline when the moment comes.

If You’re Thinking “This Sounds Nice But…”

Same.

We get it—life is busy, phones are convenient, and sometimes scrolling is the only thing your brain can handle at the end of the day.

This isn’t about cutting screens out completely.
It’s about creating tiny pockets of something else.

Five minutes counts.
Ten minutes counts.
Half a chapter absolutely counts.

A small way to start

Pick one moment this week—just one.

Maybe:

  • Your morning coffee
  • The first 10 minutes after dinner
  • A rainy afternoon window

And try swapping scrolling for something from your “analog bag.”

That’s it. That’s the whole goal.

From us to you

We’re big believers that the little moments matter most.

The quiet ones.
The slow ones.
The ones that don’t get posted or shared or optimized.

So if Screen-Free Week feels like too much…
just take one small step toward something that feels a little more you.

We’ll be right there with you—probably with a book, a craft, and a snack we didn’t plan on sharing.
